What is Capital Punishment? Capital punishment, sometimes called the death penalty, is the execution of people who have been found guilty of offenses considered to be capital crimes. The supporters of capital punishment believe that the crimes are so serious to the community that the criminals deserve the most serious form of punishment possible, ultimate punishment. While on the other hand the opponents of capital punishment believe that there are no conditions or situations in which taking a human life is okay, violating the right to life. They think its better to place the criminals in jail where they can do no harm to others. Feelings in the U.S. are sharply divided and equally strong for both supporters and protesters of the death penalty. We will give you both sides for and against capital punishment.
